In the Indian automobile market 25% of the cars sold per month are sedans. The Corolla Altis sedan is one of the oldest cars from Toyota stables. It came to India in 2003. The next generation Corolla Altis was unveiled at Indian Auto Expo 2014. This D-segment premium sedan faces rivals like Hyundai Elantra, Renault Fluence and Skoda Octavia in the segment.
The new Corolla Altis is based on Furia concept and sports trapezoidal grille with swept back headlamps and the large air dam at the front. At the rear, this eleventh generation model sports angular styled tail lights, black exhaust outlet and a sleek rear spoiler for the sporty look. Top versions will feature LED headlamps, LED clearance lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels. The base variants are fitted with wheel covers. The bottle holders, glove box, seat pocket and such storage spaces are in plenty. There are mirrors and vanity lamps for both front passengers.
The Corolla Altis is 4620 mm long, 1775 mm wide, 1475 mm high, and has a large wheelbase of 2700 mm.
The Corolla gets a double toned piano-black color scheme. The dashboard is stylish and comes with 7-inch touch screen panel with voice command capability and an advance stereo system with USB and Bluetooth ports. Corolla Altis gets rear reading lamps, paddle shifters, rear power socket, rear camera and the mirror link. The top end variants are offered with heated seats and the rear passengers get reclining seats. The New Corolla Altis carries car boot of 470 liters.
Driver and passenger airbags come standard across models but the ABS with EBD and Brake Assist BA comes only on the diesel variants and the top-end petrol variant. It also gets some new safety features like Wireless Door Lock with Smart Entry, Immobilizer & Alarm and driver side one Touch Up/Down with Jam Protection Windows.
Toyota Corolla Altis are available in both petrol and diesel. The Toyota Corolla Altis petrol is propelled by a 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE, 4-cylinder engine that is good for 138 bhp of power and 173 Nm of top torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels of the car via a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The oil burner is the 1.4-litre D-4D unit that produces 87 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque. The car gets a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The fuel efficiency figures are 21.42 kmpl for the diesel unit and 13.96 kmpl for the petrol unit.
White Pearl Crystal Shine, Celestial Black, Silver Mica Metallic, Grey Metallic, Blue Metallic, Champagne Mica Metallic and Super White II are the available colours.
The Toyota Corolla Altis prices starts at Rs. 13.06 lakh and goes up to Rs. 17.73 lakh.
