For Star Wars and arts fans alike, there are fewer figures more notable than the mighty Yoda. An incredibly ugly, short, and green little figure, his resolve, character, and skill is ultimately some of the greatest seen in any Star Wars character. In the first few movies, which cemented the series’ huge following, Yoda was a physical figure. A puppet, carefully and expertly crafted to appear almost lifelike in the film. Now, however, any depiction of Yoda is done entirely by CGI, computer generated models and animations that lack the warmth and feel of a physical model. Needless to say, many old-timer fans are angry, and some have even gone so far as to create an entirely new Yoda figure for use in upcoming Star Wars films. Yes, that’s right, a fully-sculpted and animated physical model, to be featured in coming Star Wars flicks.
The project, headed by Nick Maley himself (one of the designers of the original Yoda), aims to create a full-featured Yoda model, and to get Disney (the current owners of Star Wars) to use it in coming films. The sculpture itself is already complete, and looks fantastic. However, the team still needs money for press releases, additional materials, professional demonstrations, and more, and have set up an Indiegogo page in order to collect for this purpose. With a professional team and years of experience backing the project, they’ve already completed their primary goals. Just a tiny push more is needed to get the project to its fullest potential.
With the release of new Star Wars merch, movies, video games, and other media, it can be easy to forget the true spirit behind the original movies. Get a blast from the past, and help restore that little bit of the past, and pitch in a bit for the Saving Yoda Indiegogo project.
